About Elimu
Potential lives in every village, every family, every young mind. A path is all it needs.
Lasting change starts when people are trusted with the tools to build it themselves.
20 years ago, this work started as a response — rooted in what communities actually needed. Over time, that response became a movement.
Elimu works alongside children, youth, and women across Tanzania — through education, skills training, and livelihood programs.
When communities lead their own growth, the impact lasts — across classrooms, across families, across generations.
How we work
We go in to listen.
Every community we work in is different. Different strengths, different gaps, different ways of doing things. We take time to understand what's already working and what's missing. Then we build together — shaped by real voices, grounded in real conditions.
We build for what lasts.
We focus on what holds — programs that address root challenges and grow with communities over time. Every initiative is designed to serve people now and meet them where they'll be in the future. The impact shows up in classrooms, in families, in lives that continue long after the work is done.
